Michael is a qualified British Cycling Level 3 coach, with 100s of hrs of relevant coaching and bike racing experience. If you are looking for a personalised and authentic coach, then Michael is the right person to help.

Michael uses his own unique coaching method ‘The Progressive Groundwork Model’. This model is based on the principal that building good foundations leads to results. A key part of the method is the forming of ‘Benchmark Blocks‘. These encompass carefully selected goals for training and racing, spanning: motivation, psychology, physiology and tactics. With this method and Michael’s coaching skills you will see measureable progress in your cycling.

Whats the coaching process?
  1. Initial consultation- the aim of this is to build a rider profile and event demands profile
  2. Design Benchmark Blocks- Each benchmark block is built around the rider’s core motivation & purpose and are targeted at one or two key event demands
  3. Training guidance- training and preparation interventions are coached over a specific period, always guided by one benchmark block
  4. Training Evaluation- progress is evaluated with respect to the benchmark block. The information gleaned from evaluation is fed back into the the design of the next benchmark block.

All the elements of the advanced package plus one of the following each month:

  • 1hr bike fit session
  • 1.5hr training session
  • Wattbike performance benchmark
  • Race attendance (available after 4 months of coaching)

Advanced Coaching Package

This package is for athletes who want a high level of support and guidance in order to reach discipline specific goals. You dont have to be racing, but you need to be able to give regular feedback. We will work through one Benchmark Block every few months gradually building a foundation of measureable progress.

Enhanced Coaching Package

This package is for athletes who want the most extensive coach support in order reach the top.

The package includes all the elements of Advanced Coaching. In addition to this, one of the following per month:

  • 1hr bike fit session
  • 1.5hr training session
  • Wattbike performance benchmark
  • Race attendance

Basic Training Package and Mentoring

This package is ideal for riders who are new to cycling training, and want to improve their cycling fitness in general terms, or for a more experienced rider who wants another point of view on their event preparation.

  • Bi-monthly training plan, with monitoring of rider feedback monthly.
  • or fortnightly feedback and discussion via phone or email
