Junior Descending FJs – Level 2

Designed for 11-16 year olds, this course teaches the fundamental techniques to natural trails with steep gradient.
Descending Skills

- Weight shift, movement & stance: Learn the fundamentals of body movement for riding on steep gradient
- Cornering: progress cornering technique for low grip & steeper gradient
- Drops & rolls: learn the fundamentals of negotiating drops
- Speed control & Line choice: use line choice and braking to improve control when descending
These are just the basics, and coaching will progress onto more advanced skills as appropriate.
Things to consider
- All riders attending this course need to have attended a Level 1 course.
- The minimum ability required to join this course is to be able to: apply pressure in corners, do maximal braking technique, pump & absorb through smooth features (rollers, berms etc)
- The trails we will be riding red or black level trails, but with a rollable line.
- For 11-16 year olds.
Mandatory Requirements
- A mountain bike in full working order
- Downhill approved (good quality branded) full face helmet
- Other protective clothing or equipment that you would normally use for a MTB ride.
- Knee pads are required from 1st June 2025
- Flat pedals/shoes are recommended

Suitable clothing
Please wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions. This is not a continuous ride, so long sleeves, warm layers and a waterproof jacket are essential. I can carry your extra layers.

Farmer John’s Bikepark Entry Requirements
Farmer John’s Bike Park is a privately owned venue, which im not affiliated to.
- There is an entry fee to the venue which isnt included in the cost of this sessions. This is £12 for non members or £2 to members.
- You also need your own good quality full face helmet to ride there. There arent ones to hire.
- Parents/guardians need to complete a waiver on site when you sign your child into the venue.
