  • learning race tracks for better line choice & visualisation.
  • honing techniques for efficiency, speed & flow
  • cornering & jumping at higher speed

  • Session 2 – 4 Jan – Farmer Johns – Booking here
  • Session 3 – 18 Feb – Greno or near to

Is this course right for you?

This course is for very experienced intermediate to advanced riders who’ve had coaching with me before. Typically 3-4 years experience of riding red or black graded MTB trails.

  • If I havent already invited you to join this course, you need to contact me to check this is suitable
  • Unless you’ve been on these courses before with me, you need to join session 1 in December.
  • You must have attended a Level 2 course or similar with another coach.
  • The trails we will be riding will be natural trails steeper than most red graded trails, including rocky & technical features.
  • You must be confident riding red graded trails and have experience of riding (*proper!) black graded trails and rough natural trails.
  • Your bike needs to be set up for riding this sort of terrain, this means brakes with good stopping power, tyres with deep tread & working suspension. Good quality hardtails are fine.
  • For 11-18 year olds.

*That doesnt include Greno, Rother Valley, or any other flat trail centre. The steep trails in the woods at Farmer Johns are proper black trails.

What to bring to your coaching session

You must bring the following with you

  • A mountain bike in full working order
  • Full face helmet, knee pads and gloves
  • Trousers only no shorts.
  • Waterproof & extra layer
  • A drink & snack
  • Your parent must have completed the online rider information and consent form. Follow the link at checkout

These are recommendations

  • Other protective clothing or equipment that you would normally use for a MTB ride.
  • Flat pedals/shoes are recommended (rather than clipless pedals)

Weather Limitations

I will avoid cancelling the session due to weather & generally only cancel if its dangerous (heavy snow, gale force winds etc). While light snow doesnt limit the sessions on safety grounds it might stop me getting to the session from Sheffield. I will try to give as much notice as possible if this is likely to happen.

Suitable clothing

Please wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions. This is not a continuous ride. Long sleeves, warm layers and a waterproof jacket are essential September to April.
