Farmer John’s Bikepark
Designed for 11-16 year olds, this course focuses on the key skills and techniques to ride manmade flow trails with jumps, drops and berms.
The course caters for both beginner and advanced riders, with the group being split between two coaches.
Jumping & Flow Skills

- Pumping: Learn how to pump to gain more speed on trails and master your jumping technique
- Soaking and squashing: Learn how to manage speed and grip
- Jumping: Build on the core movement skills of jumping, managing momentum to clear jumps
- Cornering & berms: Develop cornering skills to carry more speed through berms
- Descending skills: line choice & braking
Advanced Jumping Skills
- Improving jumping technique to clear & safely land bigger jumps at a range of speeds.
- Boosting steep jumps at a slow speed
- Riding faster on flow trails for downhill/enduro racing.
- Turning over jumps – riding hips, scrubbing, transferring on jumps.
- Linking berms and jumping in/out of berms
- Steezey flow riding. Tricks & style on flow trails.
- Riding gap jumps & step downs
Things to consider
The trails we will be riding are red graded trails, with the main features being jumps, northshore, small drops & berms. There may be non-rollable features such as gap jumps or drops on the trails, with rollable options.
Prerequisites for Advanced Jumping Group
I can shuffle the groups around on the day, But I need a roughly even split in the group sizes. So please ensure the rider meets these criteria before signing up for the advanced group:
- Has had coaching before & has an awareness of how their jumping technique can be improved.
- Can consistently clear large tabletop jumps with good technique, at a range of speeds. (this includes most of the jumps at the venue)
- Can do drops over 1m high
- Is confident jumping small gap jumps
- Understands some of the technical flaws to avoid when progressing onto bigger or faster jumps.
- Has an awareness of all of the advanced jumping techniques listed above & willing to try learning them.
What to bring to your coaching session
- A mountain bike in full working order
- Downhill approved full face helmet and gloves
- Other protective clothing or equipment that you would normally use for a MTB ride.
- Knee pads are required from 1st June 2025
- Flat pedals/shoes are required

Farmer John’s Bikepark Entry Requirements
Farmer John’s Bike Park is a privately owned venue, which im not affiliated to.
- There is an entry fee to the venue which isnt included in the cost of this sessions. This is £12 for non members or £2 to members.
- You also need your own full face helmet to ride there. There arent ones to hire.
- Parents/guardians need to complete a waiver on site when you sign your child into the venue.
