Why do you need MTB skills coaching?

Many people jump on a mountain bike and learn by trial & error. If you want to avoid common flaws in your technique, & build confidence when riding, MTB coaching will help.

Here’s some of the common areas I improve with clients

  • Jumping technique – ride jumps smoothly without casing or sketchy landings.
  • Drop skills -use a wide range of drops consistently & safely.
  • Descending – Understand how to piece together braking, line choice, pumping/absorbing, to build flow and control.
  • Steep/fast cornering – The faster & more technical corners get the more advanced your skills need to be. I can help you unlock these skills.

I have been a MTB Skills coach for over 12 years helping people to achieve these things. If you think MTB skills coaching is just for ‘serious’ riders, its not. I have coached everyone from toddlers learning to ride a bike for the first time, to over 70s who are new to mountaining bike.

MTB skills coaching is run from Grenoside Woods Sheffield & Farmer Johns Bike Park Marple. All sessions are coached by me, Michael Guilford

The Trail Progression Programme

If you want guranteed progression in your riding, then sign up for my Trail Progression Programme.

Over the years, i’ve been coaching MTB. I have noticed most riders struggle to put into practice what they’ve learnt in the sessions. But this isn’t surprising….

…Consider the 10,000 hr rule for mastering skills… how can a few hours of coaching deliver significant progress?

My tailored MTB skills programme aims to help riders:

  • Achieve guranteed progress on a specific skill.
  • ‘Learn to learn’ – through self-observation techniques
  • Build confidence through gradual progression & feedback
  • Undo bad habits picked up through self taught riding
  • Understand & decode more complex skills
  • Get more bang for their buck with coaching

What’s involved?

  • Coaching sessions delivered over 3 months
  • Designed to improve specific techniques & achieve your goals
  • Technique analysis & feedback sessions, to ensure consistent progression
  • Delivered through 1-1 & group coaching sessions and online feedback sessions.
