Mountain biking comes with the high likelihood of falls, impacts and extreme movements. This can strain joints, damaging ligaments, muscles, tendons and the rigid joint structures.

For mountain bikers injury can lead to a degradation of skills, due to time spent recovering and loss of movement quality and strength, which can lead to further injury.
